Lynda A. (Long) Brown

Lynda A. Brown, 79, of Letts, formerly of Wapello, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Unity Point Hospital in Rock Island.  Visitation will be Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Lynda.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Lynda Ann Long was born on June 4, 1942, in Crawfordsville, Iowa the daughter of John and Wilma (Martin) Long.  On July 5, 1958, Lynda was united in marriage to Charles Leroy Brown, Jr. in Columbus City.  She was a homemaker.  Lynda was a past member of the Fruitland Baptist Church and enjoyed mushroom hunting, cooking, going to Old Threshers and Botanical Centers and hummingbird, but most of all, she loved to go to her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

Lynda will be deeply missed by her children, Mike (Pam) Brown of Muscatine, Ronnie (Teresa) Brown of Muscatine, Tim (Teresa) Brown of Osage Beach, Missouri, Bill (Carrie) Brown of Letts, David (Patty) Brown of Oakville, Carmeline (Mike) Murphy of Bondurant, Christine Olson and fiancé, Mike Retherford of Joy, Illinois, Deneese Brown and fiancé, Bob Henderson of Marshalltown and Erin (Brett) Timmerman of Wapello; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and siblings, Gary (Rita) Long of Mt. Vernon, Alvin Long of Muscatine and Joy Smith of Rockton, Illinois.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son-in-law, Jerry Olson Jr., and sister, Marge McGowen.
