Lorraine Marie Peterson, 94, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2024, surrounded by her family at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Burlington. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Kossuth Cemetery. The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Mediapolis is caring for the family. Born January 8th, 1930 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Arthur and Bernice (Huppenberger) Ruschill. On November 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ralph Arthur Peterson of Mediapolis.
She was a 1949 graduate of Sperry High School and a 1951 graduate of Burlington Junior College. She was active in music and drama.
Mrs. Peterson taught school after graduating from Burlington Junior College. In later years she worked at Younkers and the BNRR.
She and her family lived in Mediapolis for many years, where she was active in Girl Scouts and the community choir.
When she lived in West Burlington, she joined the West Ave. Baptist church and the Praise Singers.
Lorraine was a very social person. Her love of conversation, singing and playing the piano entertained many.
Three daughters survive her, LeAnne (Mike) Van Winkle of Glen Ellyn, IL, Rebecca (Monte) Delzell of Morning Sun, Lisa (Mark) Inman of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Virgil Ruschill of Burlington; and dear friend, Linda May of Burlington.
Besides her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, a brother, and son, Michael Lee Peterson.
