Lorinda "Lori" L. (Duffield) Schmelzer

Lorinda “Lori” L. Schmelzer, 79, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Lutheran Living.  Per her wishes, no visitation or services are currently planned.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Lori’s family and the arrangements.   Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Lori.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Lorinda Louise Duffield was born on May 19, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Harry N. and Ruby O. (Atkins) Duffield.  Lori worked in retail for many years at Iowa Liquor, The Muscatine Mall and finished out her career in management at Walmart in Buffalo, Missouri.  She attended Wesley United Methodist and loved participating in the Masquers Theatre.  Lori had a passion for dancing and music and used that in her many years of dance instruction.  

Lori will be deeply missed by her son, Brian Schmelzer of East Moline, Illinois; four grandchildren, Taylor, Sara, Carson and Madeline Schmelzer; four great grandchildren, Hudson, Atlas, Elijah and Lillian Schmelzer; brother, Myles Duffield of Clovis, New Mexico and several nieces and nephews. 

Lori was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Sophia McDonald, Lillian Proffitt, Velma Graham and Donna Lentocha and brother, Harry “Buzz” Duffield.
