Loretto Armstrong

Loretto Lane Armstrong, 97, of Muscatine passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Addington Place of Muscatine.  Private family services will be held.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Loretto’s arrangements.   Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Loretto (Ret) Lane Armstrong was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1929, daughter of David and Marion Starky Lane. Ret grew up and lived on the East Coast for 40 years before transferring to Muscatine with her husband, Joseph Armstrong and her three sons, Peter, Jeffrey and Christopher. Ret enjoyed her time in the Muscatine, raising her sons, and later, helping with her grandchildren. Ret was known for her volunteering over the years for the Catholic Church, Planned Parenthood, the Muscatine Hospital and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed her daily walks with her friend Peggy Searing, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lively lady, fun to talk to, always proper and mindful of decorum. She is survived by one brother, David, of New Jersey, her sons, Christopher and Pete, daughter-in-law Andrea Wilford, her five granddaughters, one step grandson and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Armstrong, her parents and two sisters, Mary and Catherine.
