Loretta Wheeler

Loretta Wheeler, 94, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Lutheran Living.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello.  Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Muscatine American Legion.  A memorial has been established for the family in Loretta’s name.    Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralseforservices.com. 

Loretta Carlisle was born on November 23, 1931 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Velma (Carlisle) Kulp.  On December 8, 1948, Loretta was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Wheeler in Muscatine.  Loretta had worked at Thatcher Plastics in Muscatine, as well as being a homemaker raising her children.  She enjoyed puzzles, playing BINGO, country western music, going out to lunch and long car rides.  In her young day she and her husband, Ted enjoyed camping and fishing. 

Loretta will be deeply missed by her children, Joyce Harper of Fairfield, California, Everett (Kathy) Wheeler of Cantril, Iowa, Penny (Larry) Robinson of Muscatine, Jerry (Sharon) Wheeler of Fruitland, Gary (Janet) Wheeler of Stockton, Dennis (Karen Swinford) Wheeler of Muscatine; Brenda (Rick) Todd of Muscatine and Peggy (Mike) Garrison of Muscatine; 33 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sibling, Russell Kulp of Muscatine and Viola (Mike) Walker of Mt. Pleasant. 

 Loretta was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Ted on November 7, 2009; daughter, Linda; son Theodore; son-in-law, John Harper; daughter-in-law, Colleen Wheeler; sister, Dorothy Wetzel; granddaughter, Holly Weaver; grandson, Shawn Honts; great-grandchildren, Rehanna and Breanna Wheeler and Zaiden Garrison and several brothers and sisters.
