Lonnie Dean Obituary

Lonnie Dean, 72, of Mediapolis, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm with a time of sharing at 2:30 p.m.  on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Shelter One in Geode State Park.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Lonnie. Lonnie Dean was born June 7, 1948 in Burlington, the son of Floyd and Darlene (Bryant) Dean.  On July 21, 1990, Lonnie was united in marriage to Waymath Creelman at 7 Ponds Park in Sperry.    Lonnie owned and operated C.L.A.S.S Transportation until his retirement in 2017.  He was a member of the American Legion in Mediapolis and CanAm Club in Tampa, Florida.  Lonnie enjoyed traveling, motorcycles, antique vehicles and taking family vacations.  The last couple of years Lonnie and Waymath enjoyed being camp host at the campgrounds of Geode State Park and Buena Vista Safari Ranch and RV Park in Evant, Texas.

Lonnie will be missed by his wife, Waymath of Mediapolis; children, David (Alisa) Dean of Austin, TX, Jeremy (Jessica) Dean of Mediapolis, James (Jeanene) Dean of Fort Madison, Darren (Erin) Steffener of Mediapolis and Nathan (Natalie) Steffener of Sperry; grandchildren, Caden and Joss Dean, Griffin Dean, Addison Dean, Josie and Zac Comeaux, Ella, Addison and Jessica Steffener and Haley and Luke Steffener; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Grayson Comeaux; brother, Ralph (Rose) Dean of Morning Sun; sisters, Ann (Rick) Robinson of Keosauqua, and Trudy Hopkins of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
