Linda Louise Rummells was born on April 25, 1945, in Muscatine, Iowa, the youngest child of George and Louise (Heath) Rummells. She graduated from Lone Tree High School with the Class of 1963. On February 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Lowell Forbes at the Lone Tree United Methodist Church.

Linda was employed for 35 years in healthcare. She worked at the Lone Tree Family Clinic for 33 years and two years at the University of Iowa River Crossing Clinic in Riverside. She took great pride in her work and dearly missed seeing all the people she got to know when she retired in November 2011.

Linda adored her family, especially her grandchildren and her cat, Luci. She and Lowell enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, trying their luck at the slot machines, and traveling to watch sporting events. Linda kept busy reading, revisiting James Bond movies and musicals, printing recipes, and always keeping a Mountain Dew close at hand. She cherished staying connected with her children and grandchildren, often sending them lengthy text messages filled with questions and updates.

Linda’s family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude for her dear friends and family who surrounded her with love and care during her final years. When Linda was no longer able to walk or get out as much, it truly took a village. The visits, phone calls, cards, and regular check-ins meant more to her than words can express. The family is especially grateful to Home Instead, Moments Hospice, and the compassionate staff at the Lone Tree Health Care Center for their exceptional care, kindness, and support. The friendship and unwavering dedication shown to Linda brought her comfort and joy, and Steve, Phil, and Amy are deeply thankful to everyone who helped watch over their mom and ensured she was never alone.

Linda will be deeply missed by her children: Steven (Johnetta) Forbes of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Phil (Kelli) Forbes of North Liberty, Iowa; and Amy (Brian) Whiting of Rosemount, Minnesota; and her seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Forbes, Christopher (Annie) Forbes, Johnathon Forbes, Lucas Forbes, Alex Forbes, Brady Whiting, and Nathan Whiting and her brother William (Doris) Rummells of Moline, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Forbes, and her parents.
