Linda Jo (Harris) Bockes

Linda Jo Bockes, 85, of Wapello passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Wapello Specialty Care.  Private family services will be held at Wapello Cemetery.    Memorials may be directed to Great River Hospice in Linda’s name. Linda Jo Harris was born on April 22, 1940, in Canton, Missouri, the daughter of Delbert and Lois (Higbee) Harris.  Linda was a graduate of Hannibal High School.  On June 24, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jerry Bockes.  Linda worked for Wapello Community Schools for many years as a school cook.  Linda enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers, her dogs and doing crafts.  She was a member of the Friendly Neighborhood Club.  Above all family was everything to Linda, she was always having the grandkids out to the house – spending time with them outdoors; fishing, going mushroom hunting and always having food ready for them when they came in from tending to the flower gardens.  Linda and Jerry never missed the opportunity to support their children and grandchildren with all their activities and interests. 

Linda will be deeply missed by her children, Jeff (Cindy) Bockes of Morning Sun, Jon Bockes of Wapello and Beth (Bill) Hines of Wapello; grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah), McKayla, Courtney (Jake), Anna (John), Allison (Trevor) and Carly; ten great-grandchildren and siblings, Tom (Emma) Harris of Daphne, Alabama and George (Dinah) Harris of Quincy.   

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jerry on July 29, 2024.
