Lester "Buck" Hawkins

Lester ‘Buck” Hawkins, 80, of Oakville, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Harvest Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Keota. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello.  Memorials may be left to the family in memory of Lester. Lester Hawkins was born on November 23, 1945 in Oakville on the family farm, the son of Burr and Laura (Strawhacker) Hawkins.  He graduated from Wapello High School.  Lester was united in marriage to Mary Robertson in 1980. He grew up farming and worked for many area farmers and grain elevators.  Lester was a self-described “Jack of all Trades.”  He enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting and going for truck rides around the countryside.  Most of all, he loved being with his family. 

Lester is survived by his wife, Mary of Oakville; sons, Eric (Jessie) Hawkins of Wapello and Tom Kellogg of Morning Sun; grandchildren, Cheyanne, David and Dalton; two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bertha Harvey, Mary Ann Manning, Gene “Bud” Hawkins, Bill “Dean” Hawkins and Florence “Babe” Kokos.
