Larry Gerot

Larry Gerot, 86, of Riverside passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Riverside.  Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.  Burial will be in Riverside Public Cemetery.  Memorials have been established for the Riverside First Responders and the Riverside VFW in Larry’s name.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. 

Larry Paul Gerot was born on March 25, 1937 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Oscar and Edna (Hopping) Gerot.  Larry was a graduate of Riverside High School.  On September 27, 1958, Larry was united in marriage to Carla Havel.  Larry farmed for over 60 years in the Riverside area and was a member of the Riverside VFW.  Back in his high-school days Larry loved his fast classic cars he owned a 55, a 56, and a 57 Chevy.  He also often took off on wild adventures with his buddies and his two sons to a NASCAR race from time to time as well.  Larry absolutely loved all of his grandkids and truly adored his great grandkids too. 

Larry will be deeply missed by his wife, Carla of Riverside; children, Duane (Jennie) Gerot of Ainsworth, Dan (Jill) Gerot of North Liberty and Dianne (Gregg) Riggan of Kalona; grandchildren, Kelsey (Jeremy) Barnes of Cedar Rapids, Matthew Gerot of Cedar Rapids, Brittni (Seth) Musicant of Washington, Billy (Jill) Riggan of Washington, Breanna (Josh) Murphy of Kalona, Jessi Gerot of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Jake Gerot of Solon and great-grandchildren, Savannah, Callie and Sadie Musicant, Harper and Zoey Barnes and Georgia Riggan.   

 Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ted Gerot; sister-in-law, Ina Gerot and niece, Maryjane Gerot.
