Ken “Tex” Meeker, 81 of Oakville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 6th 2025. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Wapello. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Oakville Fire and Rescue, Wapello Ambulance or the Iowa City VA Hospital in Ken’s name. Kenneth Lyle Meeker was born June 27, 1943, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Clarence R. & Doris Horchem Meeker. He graduated from Oakville High School, class of 1961 and then proudly served as a medic in the Army in Vietnam. On October 4, 1964, Ken married the love of his life, Connie Jean Wykert. They spent the next 60 years growing their family of “Meeker Boys” in the Oakville area.
Farming was what Ken loved and he spent his life working ground and growing crops in the Oakville bottoms, first with his parents and then his boys. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his sons and grandsons sporting events.
Ken is survived by his wife Connie of Oakville; three sons, Doug (Jenna), Ryan (Katie) and Dustin Meeker all of Oakville; and 10 grandsons, Nathan, Clayton, Daniel, Jacob, Connor, Devon, Colton, Owon, Logan and Landan Meeker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marie Weaver.
