Kenneth Meyerholz Obituary

Kenneth (Ken) Edwin Meyerholz of Columbus Junction, passed away on January 26, 2024, leaving behind a family that loved and adored him so very much.

Kenneth Edwin Meyerholz was born on November 9, 1938 in Burlington, Iowa.  He was the son of Henry S. Meyerholz and Nola E. (Dotson) Meyerholz.  Ken grew up in Wapello, Iowa on his family’s farm.  While helping with the farm and cattle he attended Wapello Community where he was involved in F.F.A., Basketball, Vocal Music, Operetta, Thespians and Dramatic Club.  Upon completion of his education, Ken joined the Air Force where he proudly served for six years as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Journeyman.  After the service, Ken returned back home where he would marry his wife, Kay F. (Brown) Meyerholz.  They resided in Columbus Junction raising two children, Kenny and Karrie Meyerholz.

Ken became employed with Hon Industries as an Assembler.  Ken held various production and supervisory positions with the company before becoming Vice President and General Manager of the Geneva Facility in 1988.  Ken was very proud of the Geneva Plant due in part to all the people he had worked with.

Ken enjoyed spending his free time with his family, friends, Friday Nights at the Columbus Junction Race Track (heard he was a pretty good mechanic), Saturday’s Jack Cecil’s Station and Sunday’s Nascar (old school racing).

Ken is leaving behind his wife, Kay F. Meyerholz; son, Kenny L. Meyerholz; daughter, Karrie L. Meyerholz (Bower); son-in-law, Jason L. Bower; nieces Sherri and Shelli; numerous close friends and one good dear friend, Larry Gage.

Ken was a truly amazing Father, Husband and Friend.  He will be deeply missed.  Ken is preceded in death by his father, Henry S. Meyerholz; mother, Nola E. (Dotson) Meyerholz; brother, Frank Richard Meyerholz and son, Keith E. Meyerholz.

A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at a later date, so the family can give him the best send off that he deserves.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction is caring for the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.
