Kenneth Black Obituary

Kenneth E. Black, 89, of Burlington, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the SE Iowa Regional Medical Center.  There will be no visitation or funeral service.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Kenneth’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  The Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Mediapolis is caring for Kenneth’s family and arrangements.

Kenneth Edward Black was born on October 27, 1932, in Mediapolis, Iowa, the son of Ava W. and Anna (Hill) Black.  He was a 1950 graduate of Mediapolis High School.  Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  On May 11, 1952, Kenneth was united in marriage to Mary Ann McElhany in Mediapolis.  Kenneth owned and operated Ken’s Tap in Oakville and Ken and Mary’s Tap in Mediapolis.  He also worked construction.  Kenneth was a member of the First Methodist Church and American Legion in Mediapolis.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Michelle “Mickey” Hobbs of Van Meter, Iowa, Sharon Riepe of Mediapolis and Michael (Marcia) Black of Marion; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and special friend, Paula Gustafson of Burlington.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann on January 14, 1999; daughter, Linda Osborne; son-in-law, Robert Riepe; grandson, Dustin Hobbs; two brothers, Robert and Alva Jr. and one sister, Juanita Bell.
