Keith Peet Rayner was born on December 25, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa.  He was the 3rd child of Ross Frank and Theodora (Peet) Rayner.  He graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1948 and farmed with his father until November 1951, when he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He served in the western United States with tours of duty in England and Alaska.  He was a Gunnery Systems mechanic on B47 Bombers.  In November of 1955, he received his discharge from the Air Force and returned to farming.

On June 21, 1959, Keith married Shirley Ann Scott of Iowa City.  They lived in Iowa City for two years and then moved to the farm where Keith grew up and where he lived and farmed for the rest of his life.

Keith was a member of the Methodist Church in Iowa City.  He also was a member of the John L. Mumm Post 457 in Lone Tree.  He was a past Commander, past Adjunct and a very active member for many years.  His favorite pastimes were traveling with Shirley and socializing with his friends at the card table.  He loved going to the Cayman Islands with his family.  He also enjoyed his work cutting logs with Ed and Chris Westfall and farm work with Keith Hotz, three of his very best friends.

Keith will be deeply missed by his daughters, Lisa Ebanks of Grand Cayman Island and Kara Schares and husband, Bill of North Liberty; granddaughter, Taura Ebanks of Grand Cayman; eight nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Marianne Rayner of New London.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; sister, Diane Brinkmeyer and her husband, Dale and brother, Kenneth Rayner.
