Judith Mae (Coil) Swailes

Judith Mae Swailes, 85, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Colonial Manor Care Center.  Visitation for Judy will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Columbus City Cemetery.  Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Judith Mae Coil was born on May 2, 1941, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Clemont DeRoy and Blanche Freida (Canaday) Coil.  Judy was a graduate of Columbus High School and went on to attend classes at Muscatine Community College.  In June of 1962, Judy was united in marriage to Henry H. Swailes, the couple later divorced in 1996.  Judy worked many years for ACT in Iowa City, retiring in 2011.  She was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, Allen Wright Hanft Post #100 American Legion Auxiliary, CCIC of Columbus City and was actively involved in Justice For Our Neighbors. 

Judy will be deeply missed by her children, Kimberly (Duane) Schierkolk of Shenandoah, Iowa, Cindy (Tim) McKinney of Letts and Carrie (Tony) Rowe of Chesapeake, Virginia.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Conner McKinney, Caleb Schierkolk, Ciara Schierkolk and Lina Rowe. 

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Wyat Schierkolk; brother, Howard Coil and sister, Gerry Bray.
