Juanita Mary (Kiefer) Latta

Juanita Latta, 98, of Riverside, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Atrium Village in Hills.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Riverside. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. on Monday prior to the visitation.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary’s.  Memorials have been established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Riverside and First Responders of Riverside.   Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.sandhfuneralservice.com. 

Juanita Kiefer was born at home on July 10, 1927, the daughter of Anton and Irene (Muller) Kiefer.  Juanita graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Riverside and went on to attend teachers training following high school.  Juanita taught country school at the Fairview school and later taught at the local preschool in Riverside.  On September 11, 1948, Juanita was united in marriage to Ronald Latta at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport.  Juanita passed on a strong Catholic faith, and by example the importance of forgiveness and kindness to her children.   She was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Riverside and attended daily Mass when able.   Juanita enjoyed fishing and gardening and well into her 80’s was giving tours at the Kalona Historical Village.   Her talent of being a great cook was shared not only with her family but others as well as Juanita also cooked for the congregate meal site in Riverside.    Above everything family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important to Juanita. 

Juanita will be deeply missed by her children, Peggy (Denny) Bush, Pat (Janice) Latta and Jim Latta, all of Riverside; daughter-in-law, Cathy Latta of Riverside; grandchildren, Russ Bush, Angie Bush, Julie Latta, Emily Latta and Drew Latta; great-grandchildren, Tom and Gus Bush, Ryan Logan, Henry and Oliver Latta and Reid Latta.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald and son, Michael Latta; siblings, Betty and John Soukup, Mary and Paul Frank and Anton and Judy Kiefer, Jr. and in-laws, Duane and Delores Latta; Don and Phyllis Latta.
