John Wesley Yeater, Sr., 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Wilton Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Muscatine; visitation will be before the service starting at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in John’s name may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or to the Wilton Retirement Community. John Wesley Yeater, Sr. was born on January 12, 1937, in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Roy and Callie Yeater. He graduated from Muscatine High School. John was united in marriage to Carolyn Ruth Geertz on July 7, 1957 in Wapello, Iowa. He retired from LaFarge Cement as an electrician. He was an active member at Our Savior Lutheran Church. John enjoyed watching NASCAR, going mushroom hunting, and his dogs. Most of all, John loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn; children, John Wesley Yeater, Jr. and wife, Angie; grandchildren John Wesley Yeater, III; Josha (Wes) Johnson, James (Rachael) Yeater, Steven (Tyler) Yeater, and Jeffrey Yeater; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother Roy Yeater.
John was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Pamela Kaye (Mark) Conaway, Linda Johnson; son George Johnson; siblings Alberta Lenseth, Ella Mae Foor, Virginia Newton, Loretta Honts, and Vaughn Yeater.
