John McBride Obituary

In loving memory of John P. McBride, 81, born May 3rd, 1943, who passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 13th, 2025.

No services are planned for this time.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in John’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services is in care of the arrangements.

Son of Leona & J. Paul McBride. He was united in marriage to the self-proclaimed, "love of his life," Donna on September 30th, 1983.

John was a dedicated, skilled and hardworking (and hardheaded) man. His hobbies included fishing, car and small engine repair, landscaping, and shopping. He retired from Hon as a machinist, but being the busy-body he was, he remained employed throughout his retirement working at Menards, being a local handyman and rebuilding and repairing cars and small engines. He was a friend to everyone, developing long lasting friendships with just about everyone he met. He had a great sense of humor and an eye for treasures as he often shopped at estate sales with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He was a kind, caring man, always willing to help up to the very end.

The hole he left will be forever felt by our family who cherished the time we got to be with him.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, his sisters Roxie Burkett, Ila Vandyke, Lucy Noel, and Sarah Grell. His children Barbara “Barbie” Behrens, Balinda “Bino” (Jeff) McMullin, Cherie “Mouse” Cook, Elizabeth Ann (Vincente) Martinez, Cynthia (Robert) Johnson, Rick (Renee) McBride, Chris (John) Poe, and Joe (Delayna) Keller in Texas.

He was blessed with 18 grandkids. Brandy (Tommy) Reichert, Danni (Zack) Zumwalt, Thomas Behrens, and Jaimie Kincaid and 21 Great Grandchildren, Sammi (Nico) Harris, Ashlee Hayes, Zavier, Zacky & Zophia Zumwalt, Tommy Behrens, Calista & Mason Kincaid, Takoma Miller and Tylor Staley.

He was preceded in death by both parents, one sister, Judy Augustine, one daughter, Mary Catheryn (Kathy) McBride, son, Buddy Behrens and one grandson, Damien John Williamsburg.
