Joan Marie (Bartenhagen) Woods

Joan Woods, 73, of Wapello, formerly of Grandview passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Wapello Specialty Care.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Grandview Community Bible Church.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the church.  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.   Memorials have been established for the Grandview Community Bible Church and Grandview Fire Department.  Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting Joan’s obituary at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello is caring for Joan’s arrangements. 

Joan Marie Bartenhagen was born on October 2, 1952, in Muscatine, the daughter of Walder and Myrtle (Hardman) Bartenhagen.  Joan was a 1970 graduate of L&M High School.  Joan worked as a waitress at Grandview Corners and as a desk clerk at the Columbus Motel and Comfort Inn in Muscatine.   She was a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church. 

Joan is survived by one brother, Carl Bartenhagen of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Elaine Wiele of West Liberty; nieces and nephews, Angie (Alan) Feldman, Michael Bartenhagen, Chad (Jennifer) Grouwinkel, Katherine (Dave) Merkley and Corey (Sarah) Everts; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.  

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Walder Bartenhagen; her mother, Myrtle (Dale) Schlutz; sister, Suzanne Everts; brother-in-law, Neil Wiele and sister-in-law, Evelyn Bartenhagen.
