Joan Duder Obituary

Joan M. Duder, 88, of Riverside passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the burial.  A memorial has been established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Joan’s name.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Riverside are caring for Joan’s arrangements and her family. 

Joan M. Luse was born on February 5, 1935 in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter, of Harold and Mabel (Mahoney) Luse.  Joan attended school at City High in Iowa City.  On August 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Richard Duder at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.  Joan worked for The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics as a clerk and also worked as the school librarian as well as a teacher’s aide for Riverside elementary.  Joan was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Riverside.  In her younger days she Joan enjoyed going camping and crocheting and she always enjoyed watching old John Wayne movies, playing BINGO, reading, traveling, watching Hallmark movies and the TV show, Blue Bloods. 

Joan will be deeply missed by her children, Jerry (Deb) Duder of Marshalltown, Beth Duder of Riverside and John Duder of Coralville; seven grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Duder, Michelle Duder, Lisa (Ryan) German, Jamie Duder, Jonathan Duder, Kelli Duder and Katie Duder; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Marilyn Laschke of Iowa City.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard on December 3, 2017; daughter, Patricia Duder; son, Thomas Duder and grandson, Nicholas.
