JoAnn Fern (Goddard) Plett

JoAnn Plett, 85, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Service of Muscatine.  Burial will follow the services at Oak Grove Cemetery. JoAnn Fern Goddard was born July 14, 1937, in Muscatine Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Elda (Haldemann) Goddard.  Growing up, she was a star basketball player at Letts Schools. She was united in marriage to Paul Plett on June 26, 1958 in Iowa City.  JoAnn worked for many years as the head cook for Muscatine Schools and she loved children. JoAnn enjoyed gardening, looking for bargains, especially at the Dutchman Store in Cantril and the Amish grocery in Kalona, camping and trips to Branson.  She was an avid fan of Hawkeye Basketball.  Most of all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She will be missed by her husband, Paul Plett of Muscatine; children, Vickie (Mike) Craig of Metamora, IL, Wesley (Sharon) Plett of Cranston and Darwin (Vickie) Plett of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elda May Snyder of Selma, Shirley Hinkhouse of Atalissa, Mary Ellen (Joe) Simon of West Liberty, Lois Wilson of Muscatine and Rhea (Paul) Brookhart of Homosassa, Fl.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Desiree Belzer and son-in-law, Jim Belzer; son, Rodney Ricklefs; brothers, Ivan, Wayne and Gene Goddard.
