Jim "High Pockets" Johnson

Jim “High Pockets” Johnson, 58, of Mediapolis, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at the Oakville Community Building.  A memorial has been established for the family at the funeral home. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Mediapolis is caring for Jim’s family.  

James Whitcomb Johnson was born January 26, 1964 in Mountain View, CA the son of Daniel and Patricia (Frericks) Johnson.  He was united in marriage to Rebecca Young on March 3, 1989 at the Oakville United Methodist Church.  Jim owned Johnson Prop Shop in Burlington with his father until 2000.  He then worked for Brockway Mechanical and Roofing in Burlington.  Jim was a member of Ed’s Cascade Fishing and Hunting Club and Ducks Unlimited.  He enjoyed hunting, boating, cooking breakfast in the duck blind, drinking Busch lattes and having a good time with friends.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, Becky of Mediapolis; sons, Cody (Carmen) Johnson of Morning Sun, Danny (Jerica) Johnson of Mediapolis; grandchildren, Tripp, Emmie, Cliff and Baby J.; siblings, Kathy (Bill) Ewinger of Burlington, Mark (Diane) Johnson of Burlington and Beth Johnson of Biggsville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
