Jerry Dean Bockes

Jerry Bockes, 83, of Wapello, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at his home.  No services are planned at this time. Jerry Dean Bockes was born on April 4, 1941, in Grundy Center, Iowa the son of Myrle and Dorothy (Jones) Bockes.  On June 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Linda Jo Harris.  Jerry was a surveyor and later worked at Monsanto, retiring in 1993 as a manager.  In his younger years he enjoyed racing and was the crew chief for his son Jeff’s race car.  Jerry was very handy and was able to fix anything.  He was an avid dog lover, having several over the years.  Most of all he loved his family, spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of Linda.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda of Wapello; children, Jeff (Cindy) Bockes of Morning Sun, Jon Bockes of Wapello; Beth (Bill) Hines of Wapello; grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah), McKayla, Courtney (Jake), Anna (John), Allison (Trevor) and Carly; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly White of Osceola, and Marilyn Watts of Hannibal, MO and many extended family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Huston and brothers, James and Donald Bockes.
