Jerold “Shades” Kallaus, 68, of Riverside, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Riverside Public Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414 starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Jerold. Jerold Frank Kallaus was born on December 17, 1955, in Riverside, Iowa the son of Carl J. and Norma Lorene (Droll) Kallaus. He was a graduate of Highland High School. Jerold was a truck driver for many different companies, including Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc. of Hills. He was a member of the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414 Auxiliary and enjoyed pitching horseshoes, traveling, visiting casinos, an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR and spending time with friends and family. Jerold “Shades” legacy of generosity and love will continue to be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a community enriched by his selfless contributions and warmed by his perpetual readiness to support and uplift others.
Jerold will be deeply missed by his sisters, Linda West of Riverside and Jann Frank (David) Frank of Riverside; sister-in-law, Sue Kallaus of Riverside; five nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; companion of many-many years, Kathy Briggs of Atkins and her two children, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Jerold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Kallaus.
