Jason Wayne McClanahan, 48, of Muscatine, Iowa unexpectedly passed away early morning on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at home with his family.
Jason was born on October 30th, 1974 in Upland, California to Craig McClanahan and Elaine Mankins McClanahan. He graduated from Chaparral High School, Class of 1993, in Phelan, California. He moved to Mason City, Iowa in 1999. While he was in the Mason City area, he was married, had three children, was proud to be a volunteer first responder and worked security at a local casino. He was later divorced and moved to the Muscatine, Iowa area.
While living in Muscatine, he met and married Renee Downs McClanahan, blending their two families together, becoming a proud father of seven children and grandfather of two later on. He was currently working as a Quality Inspector at HNI and had been with the company for over ten years. Jason also enjoyed working part-time at the Muscatine Municipal Airport for almost two years. He had a love for fostering for It Takes a Village Animal Rescue and Resources of Muscatine. He loved to spend his time taking care of the people he loved most. He enjoyed going fishing, camping, cooking meals for and with his family, attending car shows and garage sales, drawing, building, and Volkswagens. At the end of the day, he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Jason will be deeply missed by his mother, Elaine Mittler; step-brother, Lucas Taber; uncle, Robert (Misty) McClanahan; cousin, Bobby McClanahan; wife, Renee McClanahan; children, Sethan (Donna) Whitlow, Dylan (Sonia) Zaehringer, Porscha McClanahan, Cody (Kaitlyn) McClanahan, Brenton Whitlow, Rypleigh (James) McClanahan, Gracyn McClanahan; grandchildren, Daniel and Dawson and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Craig McClanahan; his step mother, Glenda McClanahan and his sister, Tracy McClanahan Muzzy.
Jason will truly be missed by all. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
