Jann R. Frank, 76, of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Washington County Hospice, Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414 or the Riverside V.F.W. Auxiliary in memory of Jann. Janet Rae Kallaus was born on December 27, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Carl J. and Norma Lorene (Droll) Kallaus. She was a 1966 graduate of Highland High School. On October 4, 1969, Jann was united in marriage to David “Luke” Frank at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. She worked for Iowa State Bank, Johnson County Motor Vehicle Department and retiring from Johnson County Recorder’s Office. Following retirement, Jann worked part-time as a cook at the Highland High School and was the greeter for the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral Home in Riverside. Jann was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Riverside V.F.W. Auxiliary, served many years on the Highland School Board and with three other ladies started the S.O.S. Card Club in February of 2012. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, baking, especially kolaches, pies and cinnamon rolls, camping on the Iowa River, spending time at the cabin, hosting family get togethers, canning, gardening, playing cards, traveling to see son, Bret when stationed in many locations, seeing Alaska six years in a row, taking road trips, socializing with friends and going to all of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. Jann had a big heart and was very compassionate and caring, having a smile and conversation for everyone.
Jann will be deeply missed by her husband, Luke of Riverside; her children, Bret (Heather) Frank of Ainsworth and Raye (Jeff) Wieland of Ainsworth; five grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Vedquam, Tyler Frank, Austin Frank, Skyla Frank and Bentley Frank; one great grandson, Adler Vedquam; sister, Linda West of Riverside and many nieces and nephews.
Jann was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene and Jerold Kallaus and one nephew, Cory Ruch.
