Jan was born December 24, 1935 in Grand River, IA to Cecil and Alice (Outhouse) Noftsger.  She had one sister, Bebee Kellogg, who preceded her in death.  Jan was educated in the Creston Community School District in Creston, IA and graduated with the class of 1954.

Following High School, Jan graduated from Graceland College with an AA degree in 1956.  On September 2 of that same year, she married Larry D. Jannings, but later divorced in 1982. Three daughters were born to this union. The family moved to Creston, IA in 1961, and Jan was a stay-at-home mom and babysitter for many families until she went back to college and graduated from Graceland “College” now Graceland University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (Lamoni, IA) in 1969.  She began her career as a Kindergarten Teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Creston, IA.  Later she was transferred to Franklin Elementary and retired in 1995.  She loved teaching Kindergarten and was loved by all.  She formed many relationships with teacher friends and families throughout the years and treasured all the memories that were made.

Following her retirement, Jan devoted her life to Word of Life Christian Center in Winterset, IA and later served in the area of Missions & Prayer Ministry at Cornerstone Family Church in Des Moines, IA.  She retired from there in 2013, but continued to be a loyal volunteer. Jan loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved to read her bible, host bible studies, pray for/with others, always had a smile on her face, was a loving and caring person, and shared Jesus with everyone she met.

Jan moved to Sunrise Terrace in Winfield, IA in April of 2022 and resided there until her death.

Jan will be deeply missed by her daughters, Angie (Dennis) Jandrey of Mt.
