June 21, 1945 ~ March 20, 2024 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Janet Henderson Obituary

Janet Henderson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, peacefully at her home, after a courageously fought battle against cancer.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Following the visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Following services, cookies and brownies will be served in the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Community Room at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Chapel of Praise Church of God or the Muscatine Humane Society in honor of Janet.  Online condolences can by left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Janet was born in Burlington, Iowa to Roy and Zelda Willson and graduated from Burlington High School in 1963.  She was married to Tom Smith in 1964.  Following her first marriage she married Jerry Henderson in 1975 and they moved to Muscatine, Iowa where she has since resided.

Jan was an active member of Chapel of Praise Church of God.  She enjoyed her involvement in women’s ministries and especially enjoyed singing with the praise team up until her health battle began.  Jan was active in her community serving on multiple boards and committees including the Muscatine Art Center, Salvation Army, Downtown Action Alliance and the Republican Party. She enjoyed golfing, yardwork and socializing with friends.  Jan especially enjoyed and was proud of her employment years at Bandag Inc. and MG Consulting.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Henderson; her parents, Roy and Zelda Willson; brothers, Dick, Jack and Larry Willson; niece Dori Lane and brother-in-law, Terry Hawkins.  Surviving family are her daughter, Sherry Smith, Anderson, Indiana; step-son, Darren Henderson, Burlington, Iowa; step-daughter, Jade and son-in-law, Clint Maddy, New London, Iowa; grandsons Korte Maddy and wife, Peyton of New London, Iowa and Garrett Maddy, New London, Iowa both of whom she was very proud; sisters Donna Curran and Virginia Crawford of Iowa, Linda Ryun of Delaware, Connie Hawkins of Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.

Janet’s family would like to thank the many friends and family members who encouraged, prayed for, visited and supplied many wonderful gifts of love through flowers, cards and meals during the last 17 months.
