James D. Stransky, 66 of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Jim. Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.sandhfuneralservice.com. James Duane Stransky was born on August 29, 1958, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Duane "Bud" and Wilma (Hahn) Stransky. Jim was a 1976 graduate of Highland High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. Jim worked for the pipeline until his injury in 1989 and then owned and operated Jim’s Small Engine Repair in Riverside. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jim will be deeply missed by his children, Jacob (Lacey) Stransky of Riverside and Timothy Stransky of Riverside; five grandchildren, Abigail, Carsen, Emmerson, Beau and Layla; siblings, Joe (Julie) Stransky of Riverside, Vicki (Don) Chalupa of Riverside, Jeannette Hein and fiancé, Tim Williams of Walford and Julie (Bob) Ellis of Colfax, NC; sister-in-law, Sue Stransky of Iowa City and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jeff Stransky.
