James Harold Bartenhagen – 60
Of Valdosta, Georgia previously of Muscatine, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He was born on April 2, 1963 in Muscatine, Iowa to James Weldon Bartenhagen and Julia Ann (Soltwedel) Bartenhagen. He was the Facility Maintenance Team Lead at Mauser Packaging Solutions in Homerville, Georgia where he worked. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Lake Park. He was known as being a “Jack of all Trades” and enjoyed constructing things and teaching others the skills he knew. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and was an active member of Scout Troop 864 in Lakeland with Dylan. He loved his family and spending time with them. 

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Gerling and stepson, Derek Brown and brother Jerry Bartenhagen.

He is survived by: his parents, James Weldon Bartenhagen and Julia Ann Bartenhagen (Soltwedel); his wife of 23 years, JoAnn Bartenhagen of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Toree Curtis (Kyle) of Muscatine, Iowa; son, Austin Bartenhagen (Tiffany) of Muscatine, Iowa; stepson, Joseph McGourty (Macy Visser) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; stepson, Thomas McGourty of Muscatine, Iowa; son, Brandon Bartenhagen; daughter, Brittany Benham (Michael); daughter, Imagin Brown (Nathaniel); son, Dylan Bartenhagen; granddaughter, Delilah Benham; brother, Jay Bartenhagen (Linda) of Muscatine, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Island United Methodist Church, 2598 Stewart Rd, Muscatine IA.
