Jack A. Mathis, 62, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his home. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Jack’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Jack Allen Mathis was born on July 6, 1958 in Kinnick, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Pauline (Puckett) Mathis. On March 16, 2021, Jack was united in marriage to Bonnie Louise Anderson in Muscatine. Jack was a jack -of-all trades and quite proud of his work in the oil fields. He has always loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, bird watching and just enjoying nature. Jack also enjoyed playing chess, cards and other games. He loved traveling and meeting people in different places and telling stories of his adventures.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife, Bonnie of Muscatine; children, Misty Mayfield of Houston, Jack Allen Mathis, Jr. of rock Island, Miranda Garrett of Muscatine and Jack Joshua Garrett of Clarinda; step-daughters, Hope Sanchez of Las Vegas and Crystal Dawn Lowranze of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Quinton Mathis of Atalissa, John D. (Barb) Mathis of Letts, Stanley (Julie) Mathis of Buffalo, Jay (Ginger) Mathis of Muscatine, Jacqueline (Chris) Boos of Trinidad, Colorado and Rose (Al) Tulliani of Decatur, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to nephews, Ernie and Will Mathis, nieces Margaret Abreu and Rachel King and his sister, Jaqueline Boos for all of their assistance and care they offered.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernest Mathis and sisters, Betty Joan Mathis.
