Jack Gustison, 90, of Wapello, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Jack's name. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com. Jack Gustison was born on December 14, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Ruby (Bouguess) Gustison. Jack was a graduate of Oakville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1954 until 1956. On October 18, 1958, Jack was united in marriage to Grace Hammond at the Louisa Center Church in Louisa County. Grace preceded Jack in death on January 15, 1993. Jack was later united in marriage to Marcia Hartsock Schneider on September 8, 2001 at the Wapello Methodist Church. Marcia preceded Jack in death on November 24, 2020.
Jack was a man of many talents. He worked as a self-employed contractor, having built many homes in Henry, Des Moines and Louisa County. He was a member of many photography clubs and the Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club. Jack was an avid wildlife photographer having won many awards and honors and even serving as a judge at the county fair. He also loved golfing and wintering in Florida – which allowed him to longer partake in the enjoyment of golf and wild life photography. Jack also spent many hours carving and crafting the most beautiful and intricate bowls.
Jack will be deeply missed by his children, Cathy Jo (Greg) Greiner of Wapello, Don (fiancé Annette Newton), Jim Gustison of Burlington and Corey (Jessi) Gustison of Wapello; grandchildren, Cody (Kenna) Greiner, Ryan (Jennifer) Greiner, Mallory (Spencer) Pflum, Bailey Misenheimer, J.D. Gustison, Gracie Gustison and Jake Gustison; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul Gustison of Wapello, Nancy Griffith of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Sharon Zimmer of LeMars and Lorna Hammond of Columbus Junction and special friends, Roy and Lana York of St. Catharines Ontario Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; brothers-in-law, Richard Griffith, John (Mary) Hammond, Richard Hammond, Gene Zimmer and sister-in-law, Jennie Gustison.
