Howard Ramer, 70, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. Burial will follow the services at Conesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the funeral home. Howard Leroy Ramer was born on August 30, 1951 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Hazel (Hays) Ramer. Howard served his country in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973. He was stationed aboard an ammunition ship in the Mediterranean Sea during the 7 Day War in Israel. He was united in marriage to Vickie Kistler on May 25, 1977 at the Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction. The couple later divorced. Howard was employed as a Union Laborer, working on construction projects in Eastern Iowa until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending all of his granddaughters’ activities. Howard could always be counted on to fry fish and bring potato salad to all family gatherings.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Heather and husband Russell Lamp of Letts; granddaughters, Lydia and Emma Rae Lamp; sisters, Linda Strause of Saginaw, TX, Laura Sywassink of Muscatine and Sherry and husband Dave Wingerter of Revere, MO.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in-infancy, Judy Ann.
