Helen B. Roelle, 92, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Lone Tree Health Care Center with her children by her side. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Home for Funeral & Cremation Services. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Helen’s name may be made to Greenwood Cemetery Steps, which she was a huge part of. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Helen B. Schmalz was born on October 13, 1933 in Muscatine, Iowa to Richard and Pauline (Wakeland) Schmalz. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Roelle on January 17, 1952. Helen and Bev Olsen established Balloon Boutique for 20 years. She was a sales associate for Forrester Smith Promotions for 20 years and Bankers Advertising for 5 years and held many top sales associate awards. She was a 50-year member of the Moose in Muscatine; a charter member of Pearl City Optimist Club; and member of the National Association of Professional Women. Helen also loved following her grandchildren’s sporting events and working in her yard.
Helen will be missed by her children Doug Roelle and Janet (Gary) Gerst; step-son Steve (Sue) Roelle; grandchildren Heather (Brian) Anderson, Stacy Lloyd, Angie (Dan) Brauns, Ashley (Ty) Van Wyk, Josh (Lindsey) Roelle, Carrie (Eric) Roussel, Dusty (Stephanie) Roelle, and Megan (Josh) Walker; great-grandchildren Tyler, Brittni, Ryan, Chase, Will, Kajsa, Miles, Lucy, Frankie, Spencer, Talia, Coy, Cash, Clay, Preslie, Emersyn, and Josephine; great-great granddaughter Jasiah; her sister Pat Minder; and niece Linda (Sue) Roelle Mackey.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Pauline; her husband Jack; son David Roelle; great-grandson Tanner Roussel; brother Bill Schmalz; and sister Dorothea Greenwald.
