Helen M. (Olson) Mullin

Helen Marie Mullin, 88, of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Winfield. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at Beachamp Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sunrise Terrace Care Center, or Hospice Compassus. Helen was born May 13, 1936 in Southeast Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Esther (Johnson) Olson. She graduated from Olds High School. Helen was united in marriage to Donald LaVerne Mullin on August 22, 1954 in Swedesburg. She was a long-time farm wife and worked for Hearth and Home for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and T.T.T. Helen enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening and going for walks. After her retirement, she spent much of her time caring for her grandchildren and volunteering at the Swedish American Museum and Historical Society.

She will be deeply missed by her sons: Duane Mullin of Mediapolis and Dale Mullin of Winfield; daughters-in-law: Coleen Mullin of Mt. Pleasant and Bonnie Mullin of Winfield; grandchildren: Derek (Tina) Mullin, Daniel (Emma) Mullin, Jason (Tara) Mullin, Melissa (Josh) Pearce, and Angel Mullin; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and close friend, Penny Swanson of Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald, in 2009; son, Darrell in 2012; granddaughter, Michelle Frank in 2021; infant great-grandson; brother, Kenneth Olson; and an infant sister.
