Glenn E. Weiss, 97, of Muscatine, passed from this life to eternal life on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Lutheran Living. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 3:30 P.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services, formerly the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Avenue, Muscatine. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Masks are requested for all those in attendance. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or Lutheran Living Retirement Center in Glenn’s name. Glenn Edward Weiss was born on August 23, 1923 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Andrew Christian and Martha Magdalena (Frenzel) Weiss. Glenn was a lifetime farmer and resident in the Muscatine area and was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was also very involved in the Muscatine History Museum. Glenn was a collector and enjoyed attending auctions and sales and spending time socializing at those sales. He was also interested in photography, taking thousands of photos and meticulously labeling each and every one.
Glenn is survived by brother-in-law James D. Batchelor, seven nieces and nephews Virgil Schmitt, Rev. James T. Batchelor (Lynn), Mary FitzPatrick (Rev. Paul), Lydia Witkiewicz (Edward), Sarah Dunn (Thomas), Martha Krieser (Douglas) and Michele Leep; 14 great-nieces and nephews and 15 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Edith Schmitt (Lloyd) and Pearl Batchelor, brothers Elmer, Clarence and Harry Weiss, nephew Francis Batchelor and one great-niece.
