Gladys "Shy" Irene (Greer) Carson

Gladys “Shy” Irene Carson, 96, of Seaton, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Pearl City Place in Muscatine surrounded by family.  Services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the Seaton Fire Department in memory of Gladys.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Gladys’ family and arrangements.

Gladys Irene Greer was born on May 21, 1928, on a farm just outside Seaton, Illinois in Mercer County, the daughter of Harry and Laura (Kiehna) Greer.  On May 31, 1952, Gladys was united in marriage to John Richard “Dick” Carson in Newport News, West Virginia.  She was a farmwife and also spent several years working as a bank teller.  She enjoyed league bowling with her husband, gardening, cooking, playing cards, volunteering at the polls in Seaton for many years and most of all loved spending time with her family. 

Gladys will be deeply missed by her sons, Jeffrey B. (Teri) Carson of Letts and Cole J. (Ruth) Carson of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Jeffrey Carson of Letts, Connor Carson of Letts, Tyler (Callie) Carson of Central City, Luke Carson of Fairbanks, Alaska and Jacob Carson of Denver, Colorado; step grandchildren, Danielle Johnson and David (Jessica) Johnson; fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick in 2024 and one brother, Donald Greer.
