Gilberto Ortega

Gilberto Ortega, 61, of Conesville, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  Memorial may be directed to the family in memory of Gilberto.  Online condolences may be left for the family at sandhfuneralservice.com.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction is caring for Gilberto’s family and arrangements.

Gilberto Ortega was born on July 15, 1965, in El Salvador, the son of Jose Urbina and Maria Elena Ortega.  He worked for Fortex.  Gilberto was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction and enjoyed cars, sitting outside and listening to music.  He was known for his great laugh and always being in a good mood.  Gilberto’s greatest enjoyment was his family.

Gilberto will be deeply missed by his children, Marvin Ortega of El Salvador, Josefina Ortega of Columbus Junction, Ana (Jose Saul Martinez) Ortega of Columbus Junction and Jose Ortega of Columbus Junction; grandchildren, Manuel, Alejandro, Kaylee, Jace and Morelia; father, Jose Urbina of El Salvador and siblings, Armando Ortega of El Salvador, Dinora Ortega of Washington and Virgilio Ortega of El Salvador.

Gilberto was preceded in death by his mother, Maria and brother, Arnoldo Ortega.
