Gerald "Jerry" DeVore

Gerald “Jerry” DeVore, 82, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Lutheran Living.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Muscatine Humane Society in memory of Jerry.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Gerald Keith DeVore was born on June 30, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Jess Willard “Bill” and Grace A. (Zaehringer) DeVore.  He was a graduate of Muscatine High School.  On October 31, 1959, Jerry was united in marriage to Sharen Lee Keen.  Jerry served as a firefighter for the City of Muscatine from 1965-1976.  He then served as the building and grounds supervisor for the department of public works from 1977-2002. Jerry was a member of the Calvary Church where he served as a trustee.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the outdoors but most of all, Jerry dearly loved to spend time with his grandchildren. 

Jerry will be deeply missed by his children, Laurie (Rusty) Wingerter of Muscatine, Debbie Stoube of Muscatine, Tony DeVore of Muscatine and Tim (Laurie) DeVore of Wilton; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and aunt, Dettie Lewis of Fruitland. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharen on June 6, 2020 and his siblings, Ronnie DeVore, Marlin DeVore and Bonnie Walters.
