Gayla (Patterson) Harshaw

Gayla M. (Patterson) Harshaw, age 68, of Oakville, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services in Wapello.  Burial will be in the Parson’s Cemetery.  Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Oakville Community Center.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Gayla.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Gayla was born on September 30, 1953 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Donovan and Wanda Marie (Malcom) Patterson. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines. Gayla worked as a machinist for Design Engineering and Manufacturing in New London and S & J in Wapello. She enjoyed playing Bingo, coloring on her phone, going to the casino and spending time with her family.

Gayla will be deeply missed by two step-children: Renee Foster of Arizona and Roger Foster, II of California; one step-granddaughter, Legend Joanou; siblings: Kyla Logsdon of Oakville; Malcolm (Julie) Patterson of Oakville; and Cindy (Brent) Stevens of Danville; nephews: Donnie (Georgina) Lincoln and family, Shane (Dawn) Lincoln and family, Wade Patterson and family and Dustin (Alison) Patterson and family; niece, Tiffany (Andrew) Carhoff and family; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marcia Lincoln and Darla Patterson; three great-nieces and one great-great-nephew.
