Gary "Big Dog" Leon Lord

Gary “Big Dog” Leon Lord, 78, of Mediapolis, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the
Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.  Gary has donated his body to the University of Iowa.  No services will be held.  Sympathy messages can be left for the family at www.sandfuneralservice.com.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Mediapolis are caring for Gary’s arrangements.  

Gary Leon Lord was born on April 30, 1944, in Monmouth, IL the son of Donald and Elnora (Jones) Lord.  He was united in marriage to Linda Kinsinger on September 6, 1964 in Mediapolis.  Gary worked for many years as a plumber, last working for Lane Plumbing and Heating in Mount Union.  He was a member of the Odd Fellows, the Lions Club and Southeast Iowa Bass Masters.  Gary enjoyed gardening and fishing.  He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family.  Gary was known around town for his slow driving and his relaxed pace.  According to Gary, if we all slowed down just a little, the world would be a better place.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda of Mediapolis; children, Ross (Gina) Lord of La Harpe, IL, Amanda (Clint) Smith of Sperry; grandchildren, Megan (Brayton) Dunkin, Michael Lord, Marlie Lord, Palyn Lord, Hunter Smith and Hadley Smith; great-grandchildren, Emma, Jeremiah, Ellawyn and Elyce; mother, Elnora Reynolds of Burlington; sisters, Mary (Dwight) Mellinger of Burlington and Nancy Lord of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his father; son, Heath Lord; brothers, Robert, Jeff, and Richard Lord.
