Gary Dean Lewis

Gary Lewis, 81, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Youth Center in the Louisa County Fairgrounds. Gary Dean Lewis was born on November 25, 1941, in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Nova and Ival (Medlin) Lewis.  He was united in marriage to Nancy Forbes on July 11, 1995 at their home in Columbus Junction.  Gary worked at the sawmill in Columbus Junction when he first moved to town and later worked at HON until his retirement.  He enjoyed mushroom hunting, listening to country music, watching racing in person and on tv, carving and whittling, traveling to Branson with Nancy and most of all being with his family.

Gary will be missed by his wife, Nancy of Columbus Junction; sons, Roger Lewis of Cincinnati, Iowa, and Bret Kurtz of Columbus Junction; granddaughter, Paige (fiancée Derrek Movall) Kurtz; great-granddaughter, Hazel Grace; brother, Harold Lewis of Unionville, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and extend family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Lewis; brothers, Ronald Lewis and Glen Lewis and sisters, Elmira Kain and Elaine Kain.
