Gary Hampton, 86, of New Boston, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at his home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Drury Reynolds Cemetery. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Eliza Community Center. Memorials may be left to the New Boston/ Eliza Fire and Ambulance in Gary’s name. Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.
Gary L. Hampton was born on October 17, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Leon and Katherine (Whitehall) Hampton. On April 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Ann Kranz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a lifelong farmer, a Dekalb Seed Salesman and a past board member of Hamlet Mutual Insurance. Gary enjoyed antique tractor pulling, fishing trips with his family and friends, traveling, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and having a good time. Most of all, he loved being with his family.
Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Ann Hampton of New Boston, IL; children, Steve (Stacey) Hampton of Muscatine, Jane Benedict of Shawnee, KS and Sue (Matt) Frieden of Joy, IL; grandchildren, Kelsey (Brice Jensen) Hampton, Jake (Heawon Yoon) Hampton, Jordan (Kate) Frieden, Whitley (Drew) Demuth; great-grandchildren, Matilda Jensen, Henley Martin, Riley Frieden, Ivy Demuth and one lovingly expected.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Twila Tweed and brother, Wayne Hampton.
