Esther Richman Timmons, 92, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Columbus Junction, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction. Memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the Columbus City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha or the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction in memory of Esther. Esther Miller was born on August 25, 1932, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Glen and Ethel (Fountain) Miller. On July 28, 1953, Esther was united in marriage to Lowell Richman in Iowa City. Following Lowell passing, Esther was united in marriage to Donald Timmons on November 26, 1976 in Columbus Junction. She was a 4th grade teacher at Manchester School District, bookkeeper for Plank Implement and RC Construction, but mostly a mother. Esther was a member of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women, C.C.I.C. and volunteered at Colonial Manor. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening and travel, but most of all, she loved to spend time with family, especially the grandchildren.
Esther will be deeply missed by her children, Timothy (Michelle) Richman of Denver, CO, Rebecca Westfall of Marion, IA, Sue (Rodger) Cline of Iowa City, IA and Barbara (Lars) Ellert of Phoenix, AZ; 23 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peg Miller of Fort Worth, TX and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Lowell Richman and Don Timmons; daughter, Kathy Knoll; son-in-law, Keith Westfall; step-children, Ron Richman, Linda Thomas and Rick Richman; one great grandson and one brother, Chester Miller.
