Doris W. (Myers) Britton

Doris W. Britton, 93, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living, Muscatine.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services, Muscatine.  Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Musserville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Doris’ name. Doris Wilma Myers was born on October 5, 1928 in Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Robert D. and Wilma A. (Gilbert) Myers.  On December 8, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to William Britton at the Church of the Nazarene in Muscatine.  She had been employed by the Muscatine School System for several years and had worked in the Kitchen of Central Middle School for 13 years.  She also worked for Magnus Laundry and sold Avon for 25 years.  She was a member of the Musserville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, ironing, doing embroidery, collecting knick-knacks and playing Canasta. 

Doris will be deeply missed by her daughters, Mary K. Britton Reddick Castillo of Marshalltown and Ruth Arlene (Robert) Adams of Muscatine; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.   

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Kenneth and Robert Myers; sisters, Bonnie Myers and Helen Peters Foor; grandson, Keith Reddick and great granddaughter Krysten Reddick.
