Doris E. Bates, 84, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Colonial Manor. No visitation or services are being planned for this time. Doris Evelyn Helms was born on August 23, 1936 in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Hazel (Rickabauh) Helms. She had been married to Marvin Bates and was a homemaker. She enjoyed being a housewife and loved her church.

Doris is survived by her son, Mardell and Dianne Bates of Castle, Oklahoma; daughters, Jenelle and Craig Massey of Welty, Oklahoma and Christina and Eric Richards of Hollister, Missouri; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Marvin in 2015.
