Donald Lee Petersen

Donald L. Petersen, 66, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at his home in Muscatine.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Muscatine American Legion. Donald Lee Petersen was born on January 8, 1957, in Davenport, Iowa the son of Richard Elmer and Jeanne Kathleen (Ziebarth) Petersen.  He was a graduate of Muscatine High School.  On February 11, 1978, Donald was united in marriage to Renee Hora and later divorced.  Donald worked for Chalupa Construction and later Hoffman Silos.  He was a past member of the Son’s of the American Legion and was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball.

Donald will be deeply missed by his children, Gina Petersen and significant other, Jeff O’Maley of Cedar Rapids and Jessica Oplinger of Kanapolis, Kansas; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings, Bill Petersen of Clay Center, Kansas, Richard (Tara) Petersen of Muscatine, Mary Petersen and significant other, Blaine Hill of Illinois City, Illinois and Patty Petersen of Davenport and many nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Petersen and Joe Petersen and one sister, Judy Petersen.
