Obituary

Dennis Steinke, 70, of Muscatine, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and daughters after a recent cancer diagnosis. Services and interment will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in memory of Dennis. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Dennis Edwin Steinke was born June 18, 1952 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Edwin Paul and Geraldine Ferne (Paxton) Steinke. He attended school in Muscatine. Dennis was united in marriage to Karen Joyce Crooks on November 30, 1974 at the Letts Methodist Church.

Dennis worked for Grain Processing in maintenance for 30 years and ran the R.O. System at Monsanto through Water Technology for 17 years. He most recently worked for Arnold Motor Supply for 15 years, retiring in 2022. Dennis loved motorcycles and classic cars. If he wasn’t riding his Harley, he could be found cruising around on his purple scooter. He was very mechanical, always fixing things, and he enjoyed woodworking. He had a great love for 50’s and 60’s music, especially the Beach Boys, food, Hawaiian shirts and animals, including his beloved dog, Coco. His greatest love came from time spent with his family. Dennis was known for his contagious laugh, his photobombing skills, and his ornery personality, always teasing others.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen Steinke of Muscatine; daughters: Kara Steinke (Chris Grady) of Muscatine; Amanda Krenz of Muscatine; and Laura Steinke of Davenport; mother, Geraldine Steinke of Muscatine; grandchildren: Hayley (Nick) Becker, Garrett Roberson (Zari Roberts), Zoe Krenz, Leah Roberson, Keely Roberson, Tavion Austin, Drew Krenz and Lauriana Steinke; bonus grandchild, Raven (Cole) Kopf; great-grandchildren: Brantley and Rhett Tincher, Carver Roberson and Colt Kopf; siblings: Mary (Steve) Dahl of Muscatine; Sherri (Dave) Clements of Letts; Sandra Williams of Muscatine; Joseph (Estella) Steinke of Muscatine; Pam Casey (Greg Brase)   of Muscatine; Ron (Sheila) Steinke of Muscatine; Don (Margo) Steinke of Muscatine; and Donna Steinke (Mark Kirby) of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
