Dean E. Van Acker, 86, of Muscatine, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Unity Point Health-Trinity Muscatine Hospital. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room after the service. A private family enichement will be held at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Dean E. Van Acker was born on June 10, 1939, in Muscatine, Iowa. He was the son of Cyril and Ruth (Finley) Van Acker. He was united in marriage to Mildred “Millie” Buffington on November 9, 1979, in Muscatine. Dean owned and operated Iowa Carbonic since 1968; he retired in 2021 at the age of 82. Dean could be found every day at McDonald’s at lunchtime visiting with friends. Dean missed his longtime friend, John Shryock, after his passing last year.
Those left to honor his memory are his son Robert (Liz) of Muscatine; step-sons Scott Westfall of Columbus Junction, IA; Bill (Sue) Westfall of St. Robert, MO; and Luke (Monica) of Eldridge, IA; granddaughter, Lacey Van Acker, and two great-grandchildren, Libby and Ryan Reist. Dean will be deeply missed by his niece, Debbie Summy, and nephew, Dan Van Acker.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Millie, on June 11, 2022, and three brothers, Orville, Ronald, and Merlin.
