David P. Kerr

David P. Kerr, 72, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his home in Muscatine.  Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, the Church of the Living Water, 3120 Park Avenue W, Muscatine.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for David’s family and arrangements.

David Paul Kerr was born on September 16, 1952, in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Rebecca A. (Seltzer) Swayze.  On June 10, 1978, David was united in marriage to Debra Hillman in Muscatine.  He worked for several harbor services, including William Marine and Blackhawk Fleet, starting as a deckhand and advancing to Pilot.  David was a member of the Church of the Living Water and enjoyed fishing, camping, being in the outdoors and on the river, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.

David will be deeply missed by his wife, Debra of Muscatine; his children, Dawn (David) Carver of Imperial, Missouri and Shawn (Amy) Kerr of Andalusia, Illinois; grandchildren, Colyn, Riley, Stella and Nolan; sister-in-law, Jean Kerr of Muscatine; step-sister Shirley (Lyndel) Sorensen; step-brother Darrell Swayze; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, David Swayze, brother Raymond “Smokey Junior” Kerr and step brother Lloyd Swayze.
